The Irregular Warfare Center (IWC), part of the U.S. Defense Security Assistance University, is inviting nominations for participation in its inaugural Irregular Warfare Colloquium, to be held on July 27-28, 2023, in the Washington, D.C. area.

The aim of the colloquium is to facilitate research on irregular warfare and strategic competition, and to foster connections with U.S. and international academic communities. It is designed to bring together scholars, professionals, and students who are passionate about topics like cyber operations, information and influence operations, resistance movements and occupation, proxy warfare, great power competition below the threshold of war, and women, peace, and security.

Whether you are a seasoned academic, a faculty member, or a promising undergraduate or postgraduate student, this could be an excellent opportunity for you to present your research, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and contribute to our understanding of contemporary irregular warfare challenges.

Those interested should submit an abstract to CSRE Associate Director John Hodgson (jgh161@psu.edu) no later than Thursday, June 8.

Themes of particular interest to the IWC for this colloquium include cyber operations; information and influence operations; resistance movements and occupation; proxy warfare; strategic competition below the threshold of war; and women, peace, and security. Nominees should propose topics that explore one or more of these themes and explain how their research might enhance the ability of the United States, its allies, and its partners, to address the challenges posed by irregular warfare.

The IWC is committed to covering the costs of transportation, hotels, meals, and incidentals for attendees. Additionally, participants who publish their research in a peer-reviewed journal or a major online forum post-colloquium will receive an honorarium.
